![]() As mentioned earlier, using too much alcohol could cause damage to certain areas or even render the controller unusable. Also, do not clean any portion of the controller with pure alcohol. Note: Always use a very small amount of the mixture on each cotton swab, as excess amounts can damage components. ![]() Leave the console off until it is completely dry. Step 11: Clean any other areas as needed with this second cotton swab. For example, if you wish to clean a single button, put some alcohol and water mixture on its tip if you wish to clean the back of one analog stick, moisten just that side’s tip. Step 10: Dab another cotton swab into the mixture, but do not saturate it instead, place just enough of the mixture on one tip to clean just one area of the controller with it. Step 9: Reconnect all cables and cords to the Xbox One console, then turn it on. If desired, use canned air to dry the controller even faster. Step 8: Allow the controller to dry for about an hour before using it again to avoid damage due to dampness. Wipe away any excess moisture from the controller, then wipe dry with a separate cloth. ![]() Step 7: Place a microfiber cloth inside the cup or bowl and add more of the mixture to saturate it. If necessary, lightly scrub away grime with an old toothbrush. Step 6: Dip a cotton swab (Q-Tip) into the mixture and use it to clean the analog sticks, triggers, D-pad and any other surface you find necessary. Step 5: Mix together one part isopropyl alcohol and two parts water in a small bowl or cup. Remove any large pieces of dirt, dust, hair, and so on with a brush, slightly damp cloth or slightly damp paper towel. Step 4: Inspect the portions of the Xbox One console and controller that you will be cleaning for dirt or other debris.
